HAPPY ALMOST FALL?!

..Its the favorite season, Virgo season..

Oh geez its going by quick but this has been a big milestone year for me y’all!

10! years of tattooing, and 40! haphazardly successfulish years on this earth… I finally feel like I kinda know what I’m doing?

And also 6 years of my beloved Reliquary.

Reliquary started out in the Summer of 2018, before it was called Reliquary. Just me and my dear and talented friend Sara in a very old, very tiny, 2 room studio with amazing windows, and landlords whomst we told I was a “cosmetic tattooer” in order to get a lease because they did not approve of our kind back then. (The building is now mainly occupied by tattooers.)

Now its Summer of 2024, I am very tired, and still not finished, but Reliquary has (mostly)settled into its 4th and largest space in SE Portland, also with amazing windows, curated with the help of my shop-(life)-mates Elli Adams & Jennifer Parks. (but also shout out to the GOAT shop manager Elise “the diamond” Monnie who probably made 50% of this possible)

To those of you have been here since the beginning. I love you, and I wouldn’t be here without you.

To those who haven’t visited yet, I truly truly truly look forward to sharing it with you.

My new life goal is turning 70 and moving Reliquary into a cave in the forest, or maybe under a bridge below a sandwich shop, and finally transforming into a true, wise, tattoo goblin grandmother wizard woman. If my body isn’t broken beyond repair by then…

OK ANYWAYS Now that im back from my summer goblin hiatus with recharged tattoo vigor..

I bought a really big piece of paper and painted this back piece concept on it recently. I would love to tattoo it of course. Featuring epic and oversized peonies, butterflies, and suncatcher prisms.

PRINT BENEFIT

My birthday week I opened pre-orders for prints of these Palestinian Sun Birds, with 100% of proceeds going directly to mutual aid initiatives run by Gazans. Because everything sucks, my tax dollars are funding genocide, and I want to scream every day. But sometimes I find my way back to these words by Palestinian poet Tamim Al-Barghouti.

“Whenever you face injustice or roughness, remember to defend yourself by finding beauty … document, prove, and defend it because all beauty is resistance.”

So far we have raised just over $800. The first round of prints are on the way, and I ordered 20 extra for now in case anyone missed out. If those sell out, I’ll order more.

OTHER FINE MERCHANDISES FOR SALE!

Ive been spending a good chunk of summer grinding away (literally) at a handfull of various sized flower presses to offer.

They are all hand built and printed by me, and some include hand painted details. I was really picky about finding the perfect brass hardware for these so they would look beautiful hanging out on a shelf or bookcase while your flowers set. I also spent 6 months testing out the perfect paper that could handle even the most delicate of flowers, and be used over and over again. Turns out, heavy duty blotter paper is the key, and each press comes with 6 very reusable pages.

BONUS CONTENT

Is anyone else out there swimming in cherry tomatoes and running out of consumption ideas? Ok great well since you asked I guess I can share with you my favorite easy tomato slut recipe.

I keep these delicious little sweet sour gummy tomatoes in a bag in my fridge until they stop coming. Excellent addition to pasta, salads, pizza, sandwiches, toast, donuts, eggs, pesto, ANYTHING…

Cut all your cherry tomatoes in half. put them in a bowl and mix with a couple glugs of EEVO, a couple pinches of salt, a bunch of grinds of pepper, and a couple generous pinches of tarragon and sage.

Dump on a baking sheet and flip them flat side up, Sprinkle with a little pinch of sugar.

Bake at 250-275 depending on your oven strength for an hour or maybe more until they shrink to 2/3rds their size and have lost most of their juice.
